A Factory of Belonging

Set in 2057, in a isolated, privatised and dystopian Corbusier's Ville radieuse, My "Factory of Belonging" is an intervention addressing the increasing need for social, creative and public spaces in a world shaped by capitalism and individualism. The community arts centre is accessible and inviting, housing various social, creative and reflective areas designed to nurture connection, creativity, and community engagement. The design is inspired by brutalist architecture, incorporating welcoming elements such as a wooden sweeping ramp and vibrant colour in order to combat the traditional associations with this style and the capitalist nature of the radiant city it is situated in. This offers a fresh perspective on brutalism, acknowledging its socialist origins.
