Rob is an urban designer, urbanist and planner with 30 years in both local government and the private sector. He is particularly interested in understanding how the built environment shapes our experience of place; and motivated by a desire to create robust, beautiful places that people can build an emotional attachment to.

Rob set up his own practice rtu. in 2016 and works across the country on a range of masterplanning, visioning, placemaking and urban design projects. In addition to teaching at Manchester School of Architecture Rob is an Associate Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University, and sits on a number of Regional Design Review Panels.

Rob is an Urban Design Recognised Practitioner and sits on the Urban Design Group Executive Committee, is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and an Academician of the Academy of Urbanism.

Rob was a co-author of the Academy of Urbanism book ‘Urbanism’, published in November 2016.
