In 2020, the MSA declared a climate and ecological emergency. We committed to ensuring that our graduates are climate literate, with a strong commitment to placing concerns about climate justice at the heart of our teaching. We are at the vanguard of developing innovative approaches to teaching the complexity of the climate crisis within the built environment disciplines. To add to these strengths, we are delighted to announce that Mina Hasman (SOM) will be joining our team as a visiting professor.
Mina is a widely recognised industry expert. She currently leads SOM’s sustainability practice and is co-leader of the firm’s Climate Action Group. Mina also led the Cross-Industry Action Group which developed the Climate Framework. She was elected to RIBA’s Council in July 2022. Mina will bring her extensive knowledge and experience to help the MSA’s ambition to be at the forefront of tackling climate change, the approach to teaching climate literacy, and will provide lectures and masterclasses to our students.
Professor Kevin Singh, Head of the Manchester School of Architecture, said “I’m delighted that we are adding to our impressive team of Visiting Professors here at the Manchester School of Architecture with someone of Mina’s experience, quality, and passion – we feel privileged to have her join us.”
“It’s particularly pleasing that she will be helping us in our commitment to educating students of the issues of climate change at this critical time for the planet and ensuring that the School is at the forefront of the debate within UK and world architectural education.”
