The last academic year flowed directly into this one through the continued development of the Architects Index of Modelmaking project. In late June, we travelled to the Venice Architecture Biennale with 50 students to host the “AiM: You Ask, They Answer” sessions. Four practitioners, ranging from sole practitioners to large practices, responded to questions from students, modelmakers and academics, creating a fascinating discussion that reflected an important theme of the wider AiM project.
To strengthen the modelmaking culture we champion, Jasmine Theobald and Zane Zeivate joined the B.15 team, broadening its expertise and further supporting students. Alongside the steady stream of studio projects through B.15, we were also involved in five exhibitions: “Schinkel in Manchester”, two “MSA Model Archive” exhibitions, “Modern Architecture in Models: from the B.15 Workshop Archive”, and the five-week “AiMxMSA: MAKING MATTERS” exhibition.
In collaboration with the Manchester Society of Architects, Making Matters expanded on our Venice launch and brought the concept back to Manchester at Material Source Studio, alongside weekly events with practitioners and crafts specialists celebrating the value of practical making. We eagerly look forward to what MSA 2026/27 will bring. Thank you to all our students, colleagues and collaborators – you are the show!
