B.15 has been the usual hive of activity with student projects from all year groups taking shape throughout. As well as the daily modelmaking support, the team hosted ‘Making in Practice; a series of guest lectures from practitioners telling their stories around the subject of modelmaking expanding on the Making Scale event from 2023.

We have also launched a new initiative to inspire and support students wanting to use their practical skills in practice globally. The Architects Index of Modelmaking will launch with an exhibition at the European Cultural Centre during the Venice Architecture Biennale. Further events and exhibitions are planned to follow. This year we welcomed Ken Chan to the team who has taken on the full range of tasks in support of student projects and has already made a huge positive impact on student experience here at B.15.

A new sustainable modelmaking guide, produced with Angela Connelly has helped students make more informed material choices. Efforts to improve on material consumption have made progress in collaboration with the Re-Flo scheme which now allows us to fully recycle all acrylic the workshop has previously accumulated and going forward.
