Located in the heart of Manchester, the historically contested and long-abandoned Former Central Park presents a unique opportunity for rejuvenation. Addressing the critical shortage of public play spaces, my project proposes the creation of a temporary public realm that embraces the site's inherent natural beauty and historical texture.
This initiative champions the principles of Tactical Urbanism, aiming to transform the area into a vibrant, modular, and cost-effective public space. By incorporating multifunctional design elements, vivid art installations, and sustainable practices, I seek to reconnect the space with the surrounding green landscapes.
Prior to the commencement of permanent development, this project will serve as a communal hub for socialisation, experimentation, and leisure—inviting residents and visitors alike to engage with and reimagine the potential of public spaces in Manchester.
