ECO-System: Carlisle Field Park
This project aims to create a complex system of ecological (E), economic (C) and carbon (O) interactions, and explores the balance between human society and nature with three goals:
1. Reduce economic losses from the climate crisis through ecological restoration.
2. Boost economic development by using natural resources.
3. Enhance ecological restoration through economic growth.
In this positive cycle, carbon acts as a catalyst. The ecosystem absorbs carbon to influence the climate, while society benefits economically by supporting ecological efforts, further promoting carbon absorption.
This project is located on farmland near Carlisle in Cumbria, adjacent to the west side of Carlisle city centre and including part of the River Eden. The aim is to develop a comprehensive economic and ecological system through agroforestry, ecotourism, and cultural tourism, in line with the city council’s policies. Specific strategies include:
1. Restoring field ecosystems via agroforestry to boost the agricultural economy.
2. Developing ecological and cultural landscapes to promote regional tourism and economy.
3. Enhancing site resilience and carbon sequestration through ecological restoration.
4. Promoting ecological awareness and restoration through economic growth.
The project aims to explore the balance between human society and the natural ecosystem for mutual benefit and co-development.
