Eco-Prosperity
The overarching theme for the year's studio is "Suburbia Reimagined", and my understanding of this is to challenge pre-existing notions and definitions of Suburbia, be it based on location, house types, function and so on. The complete title of my submission is "Eco-Prosperity: The Transformation of South Collyhurst through Economic Resilience and Sustainable Living". This is done intentionally to highlight the specific area involved as well as to give a brief summary of my theoretical and design approach.
My vision for South Collyhurst, Manchester is to create a vibrant, resilient community where sustainable living and economic prosperity are intertwined. By embracing green innovations, promoting local economic opportunities, and prioritising inclusive urban design, I aim to transform South Collyhurst into a beacon of “suburban renewal”. This community will serve as a model for sustainable urban development, showcasing how thoughtful design and strategic planning can lead to a harmonious and prosperous future for all its residents.
