BERNOULLI'S PRINCIPLE -- Continue The Todmorden With The Water Landscape

This research investigates the impact of flooding on urban typologies in Todmorden, encompassing urban, rural, and heritage town areas. The project proposes a multifaceted strategy for flood resilience with an emphasis on heritage preservation and how Todmorden can be rejuvenated in the context of the Bernoulli’s Principle.

The town is divided into two parts due to the wide river and canal, and with the frequent flooding events of the river, the north and south of the town are cut off. Bernoulli’s Principle allows the flowing water to stop being the sharp edge that separates the town and become the needle that sews the two sides of the river together, allowing Todmorden to merge back together.
