Utilising the knowledge taken from the Continuity Atelier, I have optimised the use of the Todmorden context as a driver for my design. The architectural heritage and history of the site are immediatley appreciated in the facade, materials and style of the building; intending for this building to stand against the test of time as the other Todmorden landmarks such as the Town Hall, Methodist Church, Lock and Train station. The aim of the building is to educate the public on how the railway system was essential for the heart of Todmorden as it is the bridge that linked Manchester and Leeds during the Industrial Revolution. Adapting passive and mechanical environmental strategies allowed me to fully adapt to the changing climate, from flood protection and use of natural light as a main feature in my design.
