Northenden River Refuge
With a 'business as usual' approach to the climate emergency, we will be seeing catastrophic sea level rise within the next 100 years. This means a significant influx of people [climate migrants] will be fleeing coastal floods and moving to safer land. My project provides a refuge for climate migrants in fast-built, modular dwellings, using predominantly natural materials. I use a beacon structure to signal safety and hope, with the idea that in this dystopian future, many more refuges such as this will be needed, all with their own beacons too.
