Post Industrial Production

This project's aim is to deliver a reformed post-industrial landscape set within Cumbria outside the boundary of the Lake District National Park.

The design showcases the potential of alternative construction materials grown on site through innovate applications such as bespoke furniture and architectural applications such as insulation, cladding and roofing materials.

The design is a test site for an alternative working landscape in the area in contrast to the current dominating agro-pastoral functions in the area. The purpose is to address and propose a cultural/economic shift towards sustainable, locally sourced building materials, challenging existing land uses and national park policies.

This is achieved through the function of the landscape, a sustainable productive landscape focused on the delicate balance of human needs, a desire to provide alternatives to negatively climate impacting extracted materials, and ecological enhancement and environmental concerns.
