Adamroyd Mill Craftworks

A new creative hub at the heart of Burnley Road, Todmorden. This thesis proposal leverages the strong existing creative network of Todmorden, the historical significance of the cotton industry in the north of England, and Todmorden’s future potential.

Designed to meet the needs of creatives working individually or collaboratively, this hub eliminates compromise, fostering an environment where innovation thrives. Located opposite Todmorden Cricket Club and Centre Vale Park, this hive of activity aims to re-establish the site as a focal point within Todmorden.

The three proposed buildings are categorised into the principles of ‘creating, making, and sharing,’ offering a modern take on the work-live relationship. This initiative aspires to build a sustainable economy in Todmorden, transforming it into a flourishing creative epicentre.

This thesis project has allowed me to explore personal interests of mine including mixed-use projects, urban regeneration, heritage and conservation architecture, decentralisation and the development of sustainable economies for the future.
