Todmorden was once a thriving market town with a rich industrial history, particularly renowned for its success in the cotton trade during the 19th century. This period of prosperity was largely shaped by key figures espceically John Fielden, a prominent social reformer and advocate for improving the working conditions and quality of life for the local community.
The legacy of this industrial past continues to influence Todmorden’s identity and aspirations today and there remains a strong sense of community resilience and entrepreneurial spirit.
My intent is to contribute to the ongoing legacy of social reform and community improvement in Todmorden, building on the historical significance of John Fielden’s vision for enhancing lives through economic empowerment and community wellbeing.
