Located in Hulme - Manchester, the brief asks for additional facility of the Health and Education Department of the Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). Through analysis of the Brook's Building - the current MMU's Department of Health and Education, there is a shortage of clinical practive facility for the Health Science students.
To overcome this issue, the new scheme proposes the new "home" for the Health Science programs with an integrated practical clinic on-site. The clinic aims to serve both the students' clinical practices and the neighbourhood. This integration enhances the connection between the school and its local society.
The program also seeks to maximise green spaces on-site through the South yard and the roof garden. The roof landscape plays a vital role in delivering the atelier's current theme of "Emergent Biophilic Design", which emphasises the connection between users and the natural elements. The green spaces of the scheme are the connectors that bring the users together, and bringing the project closer to the public in a wider context.
