Welcome to the 2023 Manchester School of Architecture digital showcase that accompanies the end of year exhibition which this year is being held in Manchester Metropolitan University’s Grosvenor East building, designed by Allies and Morrison.
On display is the student work from across the School, including the first and second years of BA Architecture, our eight vertical ateliers which feature the work of both BA3 and MArch students, as well as the Master of Landscape Architecture, MA Architecture & Urbanism, and our new MA Architecture & Adaptive Reuse programmes. The exhibition also features the work of our flagship initiative MSA Live in which our students work with local community groups, charities, and stakeholders on live projects to create social impact.
It has been another very exciting year in the School with the move into our new home at the Manchester Technology Centre which has been the catalyst for a greater sense of community, the launch of MA Architecture & Adaptive Reuse, and also our Part 3 offer - PG Cert in Architecture & Contemporary Practice which received candidate course status from the RIBA in March and is due to have a full validation visit in July. September 2023 will see the launch of our exciting Foundation in Architecture programme which is designed to offer an alternative route into our BA programme for a wider range of students.
We have continued to grow our Visiting Professor team with the appointments of Tom Bloxham MBE (Urban Regeneration), Ben Kelly (Adaptive Reuse), David Rudlin (Urbanism), and Mina Hasman (Climate Change) to complement our already impressive line-up, whilst our core staff team continues to grow with multiple appointments across the School, particularly attracting experienced academics from other institutions.
We were delighted with the recent news that the School has risen to 5th in the prestigious QS World University Rankings for Architecture which highlight the world’s top performing universities. The results place us second in the UK overall and as the top performing School in the country for employer reputation.
We would like to thank all of the staff from both institutions, visiting tutors, speakers, practices, organisations, and community groups who have contributed to the School this year, we are so grateful for your continued support into our academic community and helping make MSA what it is!
Well done and congratulations to all of our talented students on their achievements this year, we hope you enjoy viewing their work.
