Mayfield is the psychological end of Manchester. It is separated from the surrounding area by the Mancunian Way and the railway bridge. Since the closure of the Mayfield railway station and the gradual emptying of the surrounding shops and warehouses, Mayfield has also been in decline. I will take an incremental approach to the building - iteration of temporary buildings that will activate Mayfield.
The visual is my entry point. Visuals are powerful but misleading, and the beauty of Mayfield is hidden beneath these cluttered, rugged facades. The beauty is mainly in the memories of the past and the unique landscapes it creates in combination with its surroundings My buildings will act as tools to guide the discovery and make people feel the beauty of Mayfield.
