My final project of my MArch consisted of a renovation project of Shrewsbury's County Gaol. This was a delicate renovation as I made the decision to retain the listed aspects of the huge site, paying attention specifically to the linings of both the interior and exterior.
The original form of the prison was to remain whilst the function was to transform into a rehabilitation centre for people or patients with brain injuries & physical difficulties. The rehab would be undertaken in various sections of the site where a series of gardens were introduced where different aspects of the rehabilitation can be acheived. The aim of this project was to create a retreat of safety and rehabilitation as opposed to an enviroment of segregationand punishement, as the County Gaol previously achieved.
