I am always interested in investigating the relationship between architecture and psychology, believing how good ‘neuro-architecture’ can contribute and affect mental health in good ways.
During our atelier study trip in Venice, where we understood the horror of mental illnesses. In the past, Venetians with mental illnesses were fighting so hard to survive and to not be forgotten by the society. Are Mancunians under the same situation nowadays? We discovered many Mancunians are both mental and physical stressed which this would generate health problems to people. The Manchester Food Garden is our alternative solution to de-stressing inspired by the Blue Zone Project. People are de-stressed through farming and consuming the food they grow, under the beautiful nature environment inside the Garden. We believe that in our design, it is very important for human to interact with plants/food to achieve relaxation.
