Poveglia is a small island located between Venice and Lido in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy. A small canal divides the island into two separate parts. As the proposal site of this project, how to develop the Poveglia island, Venice, Italy and to understand the story behind them will be the starting point of this project.
Made in Italy is a slogan we familiar and we can see it everywhere in the world, especially in the luxury market. Italy is a large leather exporting country, it still accounts for one of the main sources of their economic income even when the economy is declining year by year. The leather manufacturing industry has clearly become the pride of Italian, but behind this huge manufacturing market, there are still some unknown spots: illegal workshops. This project will conduct research and investigation in the context of Italian leather manufacturing then seeking solutions.
This project takes a fantastical approach to critique of industrial presence in the world. Through the analysis leather production process and spatial translation of the leather production line, At the same time, tourism factors and port import and export transportation channels were added to this leather industrial zone to redefine the future industrial manufacturing industry. While increasing the vitality of the entire site, it attracts tourists to increase local tourism benefits, and also increases benefits for Italian leather manufacturing.
