A Wander Through Shrewsbury's Forgotten Past Place, Memory & Affect
“Cities have always offered anonymity, variety, and conjunction, qualities best basked in by walking,”-Rebecca Solnit
My design ethos throughout this series has led me to seek to extend and deepen our debates around the intersection of place, memory and affect. My thesis project aims to understand Shrewsbury’s forgotten Urban Pocket within Castlefield, whilst creating a common ground between ’The Town and The Country’. I have investigated Castlefield’s rich historic heritage through the site’s evolution. By tracing key spaces and events that took place within the site, allowed me to understand the impact and evolution the site had undertaken.
I focussed mainly on Urban designing, Developing spaces along the forgotten landscape of castlefield.
