Trude Renwick is a Lecturer in Architecture at the University of Manchester. Her ethnographic research focuses on the relationship between commerce, infrastructure and spiritual space in modern and contemporary Thailand. Drawing on her interdisciplinary background in anthropology and architectural history, her work unpacks issues surrounding inequality and aesthetics within and beyond Southeast Asia. She joins our faculty after serving as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Society of Fellows in the Humanities at the University of Hong Kong as well as a Fellow at the International Institute for Asian Studies. She received her PhD in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley in 2021and a Masters in Design Studies from Harvard University in 2012. Her Bachelor’s in Anthropology and Urban Studies was completed in 2010 from Brandeis University.
