Louis is an interdisciplinary researcher in Architecture and Urban Studies. His teaching appropriate discourses from across the disciplines of Humanities and Social Sciences. His research spans social, political, and cultural theory specialising in the intersection of architectural and psychoanalytic inquiry. Using facets of contemporary culture, media, and filmic representations, Louis presents interrogations on social and political control, and the role of the built environment in the creation of cognitive and embodied urban fabrics. He completed his PhD at the University of Derby under the guidance of Dr Eleni Tracada, with a thesis titled “Parallaxical Identities: Architectural Semantics of Contemporary Arts Institutions and The Curation of Cultural Identity”. He is currently working on his monograph, due to be published by Routledge, “Parallax: Bridging the Gap Between Architecture and Psychoanalysis”.
Louis holds an MA in Curatorial Practice from Bath Spa University, and completed their Part 1 in Architecture and Planning at UWE, Bristol. In addition to five years of experience lecturing in numerous disciplines, he has also worked as an artist, curator and art critic.
