Jonathan is a qualified Architect, Urbanist and Town Planner with experience across a wide range of sectors and building typologies. Having worked at MMU since 2017 in both BA1 and BA2 studios as an Associate Lecturer, Jonathan now also teaches on the Masters in Architecture and Urbanism course and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Jonathan’s research focus centers around community engagement and raising design quality. He has received RTPI Excellence Awards for his residential design guides and neighbourhood plans across Yorkshire and the Humber and has recently worked with the RIBA as part of the Future Places initiative to develop a targeted community engagement strategy for Bradford, shaping the future of the city centre.
Jonathan currently works in a medium sized practice in Sheffield with a focus on residential design and master planning, healthcare refurbishment and commercial redevelopment. In previous roles Jonathan gained an expertise in higher education buildings, transport interchanges and energy from waste facilities. He also acted as Yorkshire Design Review Panel Manager and has acted as a Building For Life Assessor on a number of high profile schemes.
