Aoife is an senior architect and masterplanner at Optimised Environments. She combines technical understanding of delivery with an appreciation of the broader urban, social and economic context. She has worked on a range of projects across sectors and scales with particular experience in residential-led mixed-use masterplanning, high density residential and Higher Education campus design.
Before joining OPEN, Aoife had gained extensive experience at several international practices, most recently Mecanoo where she was an integral member of the Manchester studio working on projects such as the Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD) and the Kampus neighbourhood. In 2011 Aoife worked as an architectural assistant at SASAKI Associates in Boston working on a masterplan for the regeneration of Harvards campus. In 2012 Aoife joined Tim Flynn Architects’ London office to work on a range of high-end residential development. Between 2013 and 2014, Aoife participated in a year-long design and build project for a childrens’ home in Nakuru, Kenya.
Alongside Aoife’s role as a tutor and in architectural practice, she is a keen gardener and environmentalist. Aoife volunteers with Manchester Urban Diggers and is studying for a diploma in horticulture with the RHS in order to broaden her understanding of how nature and biodiversity can influence our cities, buildings and how we design for a sustainable future.
