Professor Kevin Singh has been appointed as the new Head of Manchester School of Architecture.
Professor Singh is a chartered architect with a 25-year career in higher education. Most recently he was Head of the Birmingham School of Architecture and Design at Birmingham City University.
He is a founding director of the space* studio, a design-led RIBA Chartered Practice which undertakes new build, refurbishment, and interior works across several sectors. His key works include the interior of the recently completed English National Ballet in London, a new-build social housing scheme near Cheltenham, where he collaborated with Hemingway Design, and a number of concept designs for Manchester City Football Club.
Manchester School of Architecture, a joint school between Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester, is ranked 8th in the world, and 2nd in the UK in the latest QS World Subject Rankings.

Professor Singh said: “I am honoured and excited to join the prestigious Manchester School of Architecture as Head of School. I’m thrilled to be moving to such a creative and progressive city and also look forward to engaging with its practices, networks, communities, and culture.”

Professor Singh’s Chair in Learning and Teaching and Academic Leadership is in recognition of numerous initiatives to blur the lines between academia and practice, and for his proven track record of transforming the success of courses he has led. He was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in May 2015, in acknowledgement of his global work in this field.
He is also a member of SCHOSA Council, RIBA Education Committee, chairs RIBA Validation Panels, and was previously a member of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Association of Architects.
