This project introduces an innovative co-living housing model that addresses the UK North’s defining challenge: attracting and retaining young talent. By catering to the lifestyle preferences of young professionals, the design successfully responds to their three core requirements—affordability, social connectivity, and spatial flexibility. Environmentally, the building utilizes a high-performance mass timber structure paired with optimized natural ventilation systems. Socially, the project brings in a dual-aspect co-living model and an open, mixed-use ground floor to attract ambitious talent to Crewe, encouraging them to establish long-term roots. Meanwhile, this scheme is deeply embedded within the local fabric, ensuring that its tectonics and decorations reflect Crewe’s rich industrial and railway cottage traditions. All of these makes this project becomes an innovative intervention that is structurally resilient, environmentally responsible, and socially transformative.
