The Living Clinic

A therapeutic dental environment shaped by nature and regenerative material futures.

The Living Clinic explores how architecture can redefine the experience of dental care through therapeutic design and environmental connection. Responding to the widespread issue of dental anxiety, the project proposes a dental environment that replaces the clinical atmosphere often associated with fear and discomfort with spaces that promote calmness, and recovery.

The scheme is grounded in biophilic principles, using natural light, planting and sensory materiality with nature to reduce stress and support wellbeing throughout the patient journey. Spaces are designed as a gradual transition between public and clinical functions, encouraging a slower and more restorative experience of care.

Central to the proposal is an integrated laboratory that transforms natural materials harvested and contributed by patients into biodegradable bioplastic dental applications. This circular material process aligns with the atelier’s Carbon Futures agenda, positioning dentistry as both a therapeutic and environmentally regenerative practice.
