The Art of Staying

My work explores how architecture can become a tool for care, connection, and emotional wellbeing. Through 'The Art of Staying', I investigate the role of civic spaces in supporting communities by creating environments that encourage pause, reflection, and belonging.

The project is rooted in Moston, responding to the everyday experiences of its community and exploring how architecture can move beyond function to create restorative experiences. Through sensory design, material atmosphere, and carefully sequenced spaces, the building aims to support moments of calm, self-expression, and connection between people.

A key focus of my work is the relationship between identity and community that questions whether social environments can either suppress individuality or enable personal growth. The artefact 'In Bloom' explores this idea through the contrast between concealment and unmasking, where vulnerability becomes a shared experience rather than something to hide.

My approach to architecture values inclusivity, accessibility, and the emotional impact of space. I am interested in designing places that recognise the human experience as complex and evolving, creating environments where people feel supported, seen, and able to belong.
