INVERTING MAYFIELD
AN EXHIBITION OF DARKNESS AND LIGHT
People perceive and understand the reality of their surroundings through the 6 senses. One’s eyes, however, are designed to register the world as an invert image. This knowledge can change our perception of reality and question the reason as to why our ‘cameras’ work this way?
The inverted archipelago map of Mayfield, revealed that the positive and negative are two interconnected entities. The void creates the space and in other cases the absence of it. Thus, the only constant that stays unchangeable are the boundaries which separate the one from the other. So, for the creation of my building I had to stop thinking in form and focus on the outlines.
