Using visual storytelling in a form of townscape perspectives as a design methodology, this project explores how modern development has been transforming once vibrant streets, rich in a variety of architectural expression and engaging streetscapes, into spaces of monotony and similitude.
The experiential nature of established methodology allows to challenge the existing condition of the Arndale Centre in Manchester, and seek for the balance between modern commercial development and local identity. The project aims to create alternative urban arrangements which retain distinctive streetscape, and above all generate a people-focused experience and a place-specific atmosphere. Re-imagine a shopping quarter in the heart of Manchester.
