CENTRE OF CONVERGENCE

MEETING POINT FOR PEOPLE AND NATURE

Located on the edge of Mayfield, the project aims to reconnect the area to the rest of Manchester by facilitating and nurturing a community. Food is used as the impetus for gathering and connecting and the building provides collective spaces for its production, preparation and consumption. Public and private aspects are balanced to create a vibrant, multifunctional environment.

The other main objective is to create a pocket of nature in the urban setting where human and animal life can coexist and thrive. This meant preserving the preexisting nature on site, shaping the building around it and developing a design that can become a shelter not only for a newly established community but wildlife as well.

By giving people and nature a safe space to return to, a state of change towards a more holistic urban landscape is set in motion.
